Winter Aid Distribution
As winter approaches, the people of Kabul face a life-threatening struggle. Afghanistan is known for its harsh, cold winters, and this year, the situation is even more dire. Due to international sanctions and the economic collapse, millions of Afghan families cannot afford basic necessities like food and heating.
The sanctions—imposed by the U.S., the EU, and international financial institutions—have frozen Afghanistan’s assets and cut off the country from much-needed aid and financial resources. The cutoff of foreign aid, which constituted about 75% of the government's budget before 2021, has led to unemployment, inflation, and scarcity of basic goods. While these measures were meant to pressure the Taliban regime, the real victims are ordinary Afghan families who are now struggling to survive. Many families cannot even afford to heat their homes, leaving them exposed to freezing temperatures.
The Kalaam Project is on the ground in Kabul, distributing aid directly to families in need. Our winter distribution campaign focuses on providing financial assistance for purchasing wood—an essential source of heat for thousands of households. With your support, we can prevent families from freezing in their homes and offer them a chance to survive the brutal winter conditions. Your donations are a lifeline to those most affected by the worsening humanitarian crisis.
