Support Families in Nangrahar, Afghanistan

In the rural villages of Nangarhar, Afghanistan, families are facing devastating levels of poverty. With little to no opportunities for employment, many are trapped in a cycle of hardship, struggling to afford even the most basic necessities. Instead of attending school, children are forced to scavenge through landfills, searching for scraps of plastic and metal to sell—doing whatever they can to help their families survive. Food insecurity is so severe that many families rely on a simple paste made from soaked bread as their daily meal.

The Kalaam Project will be providing families in Nangrahar with micro businesses and a food package to help them get started. We are looking to promote more sustainable ways for families to begin providing for themselves, creating streams of income so that they are more efficient and self reliant.

The micro businesses will include three wheeled carts ($120 USD) that people can sell goods on, which we will also cost around ($187 USD). For the women in the village, we will be providing them with sewing machines, scissors, an iron, and gas stove ($200 USD) to start their own tailor/sewing businesses. It will cost $307 USD to fund a micro business for a family.

Each family will also receive a food package to help eliminate the food insecurity they face until their business begins. This will cost less than $100 USD.

Humanitarian aid is a bandaid to a much larger problem. By donating, you are promoting stability by funding micro businesses for families in Nangrahar, Afghanistan. Donate today, remember the people of Afghanistan. We'll be posting receipts and photos via our social media. This will be an ongoing campaign.
